Treatment Programs
Evidence-based care tailored to your recovery
Medical Detox
Medical detox at KKH Rehab typically lasts 3 to 7 days, with licensed medical staff on site around the clock. Withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, and other substances can be physically dangerous, so we provide continuous monitoring and medication-assisted treatment to keep you safe and as comfortable as possible.
Detox is the stabilizing first step, not the whole journey. The moment you are medically ready, we transition you into residential or outpatient care so the hardest days lead directly into lasting recovery.
Residential Treatment
Our residential program runs 30 to 90 days in an immersive, around-the-clock environment on the Kona Coast. Days center on mindfulness and brain-based therapy, with family sessions woven throughout so loved ones recover alongside the patient.
Patients live on site with access to the aquatic center, coastal hiking trails, outdoor yoga deck, and nutritionist-designed meals, while clinicians deliver trauma-informed, individualized care.
Outpatient Program
KKH Rehab offers two outpatient levels: a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) of 2 to 4 weeks and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) of 8 to 12 weeks. Both let you keep working, stay close to family, and apply what you learn in real time, with the structure of regular clinical sessions.
Outpatient care is where KKH Rehab began, and it remains a strength — ideal as a step down from residential treatment or as a starting point for those whose home and support systems allow recovery on the island while living at home.
Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis means treating addiction and a co-occurring psychiatric condition — such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD — at the same time, by the same team. For many people, an undiagnosed condition is the real engine behind substance use, and treating only the addiction leaves that engine running.
Our psychiatrists and therapists integrate medication management, EMDR, and trauma-informed therapy into one coordinated plan, so the whole person is treated rather than a set of disconnected symptoms.

A Day in Treatment
Our days are anchored in mindfulness. Beginning and returning to stillness throughout the day teaches patients to sit with discomfort rather than escape it — the skill our alumni credit most for lasting recovery.
